Who We Are
Access Art is a female-founded and led nonprofit powered by a small but dedicated team of volunteers who wholeheartedly believe in the power that creative expression can change lives. We work day in and day out to break down barriers, create meaningful opportunities, and make a lasting difference in the lives of young people who might otherwise go without access to these experiences.
Our Board of Directors brings together individuals from diverse backgrounds, professions, and walks of life, each contributing unique perspectives, experiences, and a shared commitment to our mission. We believe this diversity is one of our greatest strengths and that meaningful change begins with inclusion, representation, and a willingness to see the world through different perspectives.
At our core, we believe creativity knows no boundaries, opportunity should never be determined by financial circumstances, and every child deserves the chance to discover their potential. We are working to build a future where access to the arts is a right, not a privilege.
Meet The Team

Ashley has dedicated much of her life to working with at-risk and underserved youth, a passion that began in high school when she volunteered as a mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters. Her journey has been anything but conventional. A high school dropout who went on to earn a Ph.D., Ashley understands firsthand that a person's circumstances, challenges, or beginnings do not have to define their future.
A former counselor and educator, Ashley's professional experiences extend far beyond the classroom and clinical setting. Her diverse career has spanned mental health, education, the music industry and hospitality, giving her a unique perspective on people, communities, and the challenges they face. Her approach to leadership emphasizes self-awareness, ethical responsibility, and the importance of building successful organizations without compromising integrity or social responsibility. These principles are central to the mission of Access Art.
While Ashley has spent much of her career working with people from diverse backgrounds, it was her most recent work with high school seniors in Camden, New Jersey, that ultimately changed the trajectory of her work and inspired the creation of Access Art.
In Camden, Ashley witnessed poverty, systemic inequality, and barriers to opportunity at a level she had never previously experienced. She also saw firsthand the effects of gentrification and how rapidly changing communities could leave vulnerable youth, feeling increasingly disconnected from the places they called home. These experiences challenged her understanding of what it truly means to create opportunity and reinforced her belief that access to resources, experiences, and supportive environments should never be determined by a child's ZIP code or socioeconomic status.
During this time, Ashley grew increasingly frustrated with the bureaucracy, red tape, and politics that too often complicate the simple act of helping people. Yet amid those challenges, she witnessed something powerful: the profound difference a safe, creative, and judgment-free environment could make in a young person's life. A place where kids could express themselves, explore their interests, build confidence, and simply exist without the pressures of the world around them. Even if only for a few hours, those experiences mattered.
Ashley also recognized a troubling reality: arts and creative programs are often among the first opportunities eliminated when budgets tighten, despite the important role they can play in childhood development. Research has demonstrated meaningful connections between creative engagement, emotional well-being, self-expression, and mental health. For children navigating difficult circumstances, creative outlets can provide valuable opportunities to process emotions, develop emotional regulation skills, build confidence, and experience a sense of belonging. Ashley firmly believes these experiences are not luxuries or optional extras, but important components of healthy childhood development.
Determined to create opportunities without unnecessary barriers, Ashley returned to Florida and founded Access Art. Her vision was simple: remove financial obstacles and make art, music, and creative experiences accessible to children who might otherwise never have the opportunity to participate.
Today, as an entrepreneur, nonprofit leader, and mother of two, Ashley continues to lead Access Art with the same conviction that inspired its creation. Her own unconventional journey has shaped her belief that potential cannot be measured by circumstances, traditional milestones, or the expectations society places on individuals. She believes meaningful change doesn't always require large institutions, complicated programs, or endless resources. Sometimes, it begins with giving a child a safe place to belong, the freedom to create, and the opportunity to discover something they never knew was possible.
At the heart of her mission is a simple belief: Creativity is not a privilege, potential is not defined by circumstance, and every child deserves the opportunity to discover what is possible.
