Access Art is proud to spotlight Khaleah, one of our talented Access Scholarship recipients! At just 11 years old, Khaleah uses dance as a motivation to work through hearing challenges as a creative outlet. We sat down with her to learn more about her artistic journey, inspirations, and dreams for the future.

Q: What’s your name and how old are you?

Khaleah: My name is Khaleah, and I am 11 years old.

Q: What colors or sounds describe your personality?

Khaleah: Colors that describe my personality are lavender and light blue. I prefer loud sounds so I can hear them.

Q: If you could have any superpower, what would it be?

Khaleah: If I was a superhero, I would like to be invisible and be able to heal people.

Q: How did you first get interested in art (or music)?

Khaleah: Just being around my family, they play a lot of different music, and my family has a lot of background history in the arts.  My mom used to dance when she was younger and dance during college, watching some of her dances and hearing stories of her dance experience, I became very interested.

Q: What’s one dream or goal you have for the future with your art or music?

Khaleah: Despite my hearing challenges, dance has become my way to express how I feel. It's kind of like my way of writing poetry, but through dance.  The more I spend time learning about art and music, and dance, one goal I would like to achieve in the future is to start designing clothing

We are super excited to watch Khaleah grow and develop as a dancer & very happy to have her as part of our scholarship family.
