We are excited to introduce Alanna, our featured Access Scholarship recipient this month! At 11 years old, Alanna Lynn Grogan is a passionate and dedicated dancer, inspired by the calming beauty of the ocean and motivated by her incredible dance teachers, Alanna has devoted herself to ballet, jazz, and tap for most of her life. With dreams of one day making it to Broadway, Alanna embodies the creativity, determination, and passion that the Access family loves to support. We sat down with her to learn more about her artistic journey, inspirations, and future goals.
Q: What’s your name and how old are you?
Alanna:Â My name is Alanna Lynn Grogan, and I am 11 years old.
Q: What colors or sounds describe your personality?
Alanna:Â Blue and the sound of ocean waves. The sound of the waves from majestic blue water describes my calmness and caring side.
Q: If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
Alanna:Â Invisibility.
Q: How did you first get interested in art (or music)?
Alanna: When I was 2 years old, I would listen to any type of music and start moving my body and dancing. I started ballet, jazz, and tap at the age of 3, and I haven’t stopped dancing since.
Q: What kind of art or music do you like most?
Alanna:Â Pointe Ballet is my favorite type of dance to do.
Q: Who inspires you to create (maybe a family member, teacher, or someone famous)?
Alanna:Â Both my current dance teachers, Ms. Carmen and Ms. Carol.
Q: What’s one dream or goal you have for the future with your art or music?
Alanna:Â Making it to Broadway.
Q: What would you tell another kid who wants to be an artist or musician someday?
Alanna:Â Believe in your dreams.
